Woman shot at man during Somerset County domestic incident

State police are providing new details about Tuesday's domestic incident at a home along Route 30, near Reels Corner, in Somerset County.

Police say troopers were dispatched to the residence, located along the 7000 block of Lincoln Highway, in Shade Township, for reports of a domestic assault involving shots fired.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Melissa Monaghan and Allen Hitechew had been "yelling and screaming" at one another inside the home.

According to a witness, investigators say Monaghan then walked out of the residence, with a child, and attempted to leave in a vehicle.

Police say Hitechew reportedly followed Monaghan to the car, at which time she allegedly pointed a handgun at him and fired multiple shots in his direction.

Investigators say Hitechew then took the gun, which was reportedly belonged to him, and went back inside the residence.

According to the affidavit, police say Monaghan and the child then followed Hitechew inside, at which time troopers arrived on scene.

Officials say both Hitechew and Monaghan were taken into custody without further incident.

Police say during a search of the home, authorities discovered that it was in "deplorable conditions."

According to online court records, both Hitechew and Monaghan face charges of felony child endangerment.

Monaghan faces additional charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.

Online court records show that they are both being held at the Somerset County Jail on $10,000 bail each.

Authorities in Somerset County say multiple suspects are in custody following an alleged domestic altercation near Reels Corner on Tuesday.

County district attorney Molly Metzger confirmed that shots were reportedly fired during the incident.

Officials say one of the individuals involved suffered non-life-threatening injuries which were not related to a gunshot wound.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

Authorities add that all individuals involved have been taken into custody and there is no threat to the public. No identities have been released.

Route 30 has since been reopened following the incident.
