Morrisdale woman killed husband, claimed suicide to access $1M will

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A Morrisdale woman has been charged with shooting her husband and then claiming he killed himself so she could get access to a million-dollar will, investigators say.

Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw tells 6 News that 46-year-old Kimberly Williams, of Morrisdale, faces multiple charges in the slaying of her husband, Ronald Williams Jr.

The case was originally reported as a suicide, but ballistics evidence led investigators to rule it a homicide.

According to the DA's office, on March 14 police went to the 100 block of Elm Drive in Morrisdale for a reported suicide.

When officers arrived, they found Ronald Williams Jr. lying in his bed with a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the DA's office, Kimberly Williams says she was in the bedroom with her husband and was at the dresser behind her husband when she heard the gunshot and then saw her husband with a gunshot wound to the head.

State police say they received a phone call from a person who was overseeing a trust fund for the Williamses.

Investigators say the person told state police that he received a troubling email from Ronald Williams indicating that something wasn’t right and directing that an autopsy be conducted if something happens.

During the investigation, the DA's office says that the pathologist conducted further testing and determined that the gunshot wound was not self-inflicted, and that Kimberly Williams had gunshot residue on her left palm.

The DA says that the motive was her husband’s will, which had an estimated value of nearly $1 million.

According to court documents, Kimberly Williams is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

She fled to North Carolina and is currently being held in the Cumberland County Jail awaiting extradition to Clearfield County.
