Man killed following officer-involved shooting in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WCAU) — Authorities in Allentown say an officer shot and killed a 20-year-old man during an exchange of gunfire Friday night.

Police say it all began when officers witnessed an assault on the street.

Investigators say the officers then chased the suspect, who reportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officers.

Police say one bullet grazed an officer's bullet proof vest and an officer returned fire, killing the suspect.

Officials say the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident.
