Mainline Pharmacy reaches milestone of distributing 100,000 COVID-19 vaccines

Cambria County, Pa. (WJAC) — Saturday morning, Mother Provincial Klara Slonina of Cresson was 'rejoicing.'

That's because she got her final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

But it wasn't just any shot -- Mother Klara received Mainline Pharmacy's 100,000th dose.

Since mid-January, Mainline has held 105 vaccine clinics, contributing to their new grand total of vaccinations to date.

Jerry Moschgat, owner of Mainline Pharmacy, said the community made it all possible.

"It isn't just a couple people to make this work. It was a monumental task to get to this point," he said.

Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been distributed at these clinics.

The pharmacists say the number of people coming to their clinics has been dwindling down.

"I would say in mid-February, our waitlist was 100,000 people. Now, there is no waitlist," Jerry said.

He said, because of that, now is the perfect time to sign up for a vaccine appointment.

Steve DeCriscio, CFO of Mainline Pharmacy, said he's seen how each shot can change people's lives.

"Grandparents coming up and saying, 'I can finally see my grandchildren after a year of not being able to see them.' It can almost bring a tear to your eye," he said.

The pharmacists say none of their patients have had bad side effects that have lasted more than a few hours.

Most common: headache, mild fever, and chills.

"The experts are saying if you have a little bit of a reaction, the vaccine is doing its job. It's helping you to build your immunity," Steve said.

The pharmacists credit local churches, colleges, and volunteers for making their 100,000th dose possible.

"It's gratifying to know we're doing our part to help bring this COVID, hopefully, to an end," Steve said.

The pharmacists say they'd like to thank Saint Francis University, University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Mount Aloysius College, Saint Vincent College, Saint Barbara Catholic Church, Jaffa Mosque, University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, Monroeville Mall, and Indiana Mall for being vaccination sites.
