Jefferson County inmate charged with assaulting corrections officers in jail incident
An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail has been charged with assaulting two corrections officers.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, at about 9:18 p.m. on June 4, police say 26-year-old Brandon Geer punched an officer in the head and body multiple times while being detained at the jail. He kicked another officer in the face during the altercation, according to the affidavit.
The incident allegedly occurred in a room after Geer covered the security cameras with toothpaste, poured a liquid onto the floor and refused a lockdown order.
He also allegedly yelled obscenities at the officers prior to the incident.
One of the officers was transported to Penn Highlands Brookville for his injuries, according to the complaint.
State police charged Geer Wednesday with two second-degree felony counts of aggravated assault, two second-degree misdemeanor counts of simple assault, misdemeanor terroristic threats and a summary offense.
He was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Gregory Bazylak, of Brookville, and was returned to the jail on a $60,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 12 before Bazylak.
