AASD teacher tests positive for COVID-19 as staff prepares for start of school: Officials
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — A teacher for Altoona Area School District has tested positive for the coronavirus as staff prepare for students to return to school, officials confirm.
Community Relations Director Paula Foreman says a teacher at the Mowrie A. Ebner Elementary School received a positive COVID-19 test result and the school has since been deep cleaned and disinfected.
Foreman says the Pennsylvania Department of Health has been made aware of the case and school officials are following the health department’s guidelines.
Foreman says school officials will continue to be transparent when it comes to reported COVID-19 cases and officials will conduct standard protocols which include contact tracing to notify anyone who was potentially exposed.
Virtual and in-person classes start next week.
