115 dogs rescued when their doggy daycare caught fire

SEATTLE (TND) — Well over 100 dogs should be feeling lucky. They were successfully evacuated after their doggy daycare center caught fire on Wednesday.
The fire happened inside the Dog Resort, a daycare and boarding business in Seattle.
KOMO's chopper found firefighters battling the fire as well as helping evacuate dogs from the business.
Fire officials said approximately 115 dogs were brought out. Several needed medical care. So did one daycare staff member.
Another daycare worker told KOMO five dogs were seriously hurt and taken to an emergency animal hospital.
Also, a neighboring veterinary clinic helped care for the animals and take them to the hospital.
And, animal control crews helped gather the dogs and contain them until their owners could be contacted. Many were taken by a King County bus to a shelter to be identified and their owners found.
There have been no dog deaths from the fire.
Fire officials said they think the fire started in the laundry area of the daycare, but the cause is under investigation.
There's no word yet about doggy daycare on Thursday but Dog Resort has a second location.
